Now here's a bright idea.

Xcel Energy is giving away compact fluorescent light bulbs to every person attending Wednesday's Minnesota Twins home game, and four of those bulbs come with free tickets to future home games this season.

The energy-efficient bulbs will be given out in recognition of Earth Day, on Thursday. They will be distributed after the night game against the Cleveland Indians, lest they go airborne in still-pristine Target Field.

The bulbs will be handed out inside a box that is additionally inside a bag. That way, said Xcel spokeswoman Erin Mathe, there is no health risk involved should the bulbs break.

Four of those bulbs will illuminate a color other than white. Fans can install them to find out what they may have won:

• For the green bulb, the prize is four field box tickets and the opportunity for one person to throw out the first pitch.

• For the blue bulb, an events suite is awarded for up to 24 people.

• And for either of two red bulbs, two home plate-view seats.

Winners will need to call the telephone number on the bulb package by May 7 to claim their prize.
