The Indians never fell apart

What convinced Cleveland manager Manny Acta that his team is for real is that, after starting 30-15, the Indians didn't fall apart after a 4-14 skid.

He said players such as Travis Hafner, Grady Sizemore and Orlando Cabrera have been big influences in the clubhouse.

"Everyone knows you are going to go through some hard times," Acta said. "They didn't allow that to escalate and make that situation worse because we had a lot of guys to hold that clubhouse together."

The Indians are on the lookout for outfield help before the trade deadline, especially with Shin-Soo Choo on the disabled list. Third baseman Lonnie Chisenhall, considered one of their top prospects entering the season, has been called up and could boost the offense.

The Tigers do not have a fifth starter and could make a move for one by Wednesday, when that spot is due up. They also don't have a lefthanded starter, another reason for Twins fans to dream about Denard Span, Jason Kubel and Justin Morneau returning to health.

Adam Dunn and Alex Rios of the White Sox combined to bat .188 in the first half. Historically, they are not great second-half hitters, either.
