Twins lefthander Brian Duensing threw 83 pitches during his last outing, so he should be able to pitch deep into the game tonight if he throws the ball well. This could be the beginning of a big run for him as he tries to boost the rotation like he did last season.

As Tampa Bay promised, the club sent Jeremy Hellickson back to Class AAA Durham after last night's game. His role was to give the other Rays starters an extra day off. The Rays were the only team to have used just five starters all season before Monday.

Replacing Hellickson is first baseman Dan Johnson, a Coon Rapids product. Johnson was leading the International League in homers (30), RBI (95) and on base percentage (.430).

The White Sox routed the Tigers 12-2 in the first game of a doubleheader today. This could be the end of the Tigers. They are a game under .500 and eight back of Chicago heading into the second game. Jeremy Bonderman is on the mound.

BTW, Mauer is back

Update: Gardy said he just wanted to get Plouffe into the lineup. The way things have gone so far this season, he wants to make sure everyone gets a chance to play and be somewhat sharp. Don't know what they means for Jose Morales.

Orlando Hudson is scheduled to come off the DL on Friday but first must prove he can hit lefthanded in battling practice.

Justin Morneau, Gardy said, had a good workout day on Tuesday. Now the hope is that he can accumulate good days.
