YOUR GUIDE TO THE TWIN CITIES

La Velle E. Neal III has covered baseball for the Star Tribune since 1998 (the post-Knoblauch era). Born and raised in Chicago, he grew up following the White Sox and hating the Cubs. He attended both the University of Illinois and Illinois-Chicago and began his baseball writing career at the Kansas City Star. He can be heard occasionally on KFAN radio, lending his great baseball mind to Paul Allen and other hosts. Mark Rosen borrows him occasionally for WCCO-TV.
The Twins placed second baseman Orlando Hudson on the 15-day disabled list on Sunday and called up catcher Jose Morales from Class AAA Rochester.
Hudson took some swings before Sunday's game but can't hit left-handed.
Morales returns to the majors after batting .280 with 2 homers and 24 RBI at Rochester. He began the season recovering from offseasoon wrist surgery and got off to a slow start at Rochester before turning things around recently.
``He' been swinging good,'' Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said. ``He feels good and has been hitting the baseball. This gives me a little protection with Joe (Mauer) too.''
Drew Butera is expected to remain the primary backup to Mauer, but Morales can pinch hit for him late in games if needed.
And, one of my spies in Rochester texted me that Morales took some ground balls at first base today.
This just in: The Angels have traded for Dan Haren, according to a report out West.
