A report over the weekend had the Twins talking to the Red Sox about third baseman Mike Lowell. Lowell has been available, the Twins have been interested in the past but there are no indications that Lowell might be headed here.

After doing a little digging, the Twins have yet to decide what their most pressing need is. And they have roughly six weeks until the trade deadline to determine that. Third base? Front-line starter? Reliever?

Lowell, who has expressed his frustration with his diminished role, is not helping his stock much buy batting .215 with 2 homers and 12 RBI in 30 games.

[#] The Twins have announced that they have sold their 3 millionth ticket today. It's the first time they have sold that many since 1988, when they drew a record 3,030,672 fans. That mark should fall this season.

In the release, the Twins pointed out that ticket inventories for June, July and August is limited. Fans should check back from time to time, as tickets sometimes become available. But the Twins suggest focusing on home games in August and September.

[#] I will appear on KFAN at 11 a.m. today to talk Twins with Paul Allen. If you have questions, I might have answers then.

[#]World Cup viewing site of the day: Home. Got up and watched Holland blah, blah, blah their way to a win over Denmark. Japan just scored against Cameroon to take the early lead. My goal is to check out various places around town to watch this great event. Watched USA-England at Smalley's 87 club on Saturday. Great crowd. And Tony Sanneh did a great job of raising funds for his foundation.
