The Twins have promoted righthanders Cole DeVries and Deolis Guerra to Class AAA Rochester. DeVries was 1-3 with a 4.43 ERA at Class AA New Britain, where he was mostly a reliever. Guerra, the last player remaining from the Johan Santana trade with the Mets, was 1-1, 3.07 in five starts.
They are escaping a New Britain team that is 6-23. But Rochester is 12-18.
DeVries pitched at Eden Prairie and the University of Minnesota.
Rochester needs pitchers after knuckleballer Charlie Zink went down with an elbow injury and righthander Yoslan Herrera quit.
Heard that this could lead to a promotion for Class A righthander Kyle Gibson to New Britain. Stay tuned.
