First and foremost, Happy Jackie Robinson Day. On April 15, 2007, a tradition began as almost 250 MLB players, coaches and managers donned No. 42 to honor the 60th anniversary of Jackie Robinson breaking baseball's color barrier. If you like to read, I highly recommend his eye-opening autobiography, I Never Had It Made.

It was John Lackey, not the April showers, that put a damper on the Twins lumber Wednesday afternoon. A buddy and I sat along the third baseline in section 120 during the 6-3 loss to the Boston Red Sox, 24 rows back and underneath the concrete. We didn't technically get to enjoy the first rain at Target Field, but I was happy to see the majority of fans, even those who weren't prepared with plastic ponchos and umbrellas, tough it out through the sprinkles and cheers of "out-door base-ball."

We sat next to an 82-year-old man who was blown away by the sights and sounds of his first game at the new ballpark. He had some pretty great stories too, including the one about his first game at the Old Met, where he met his late wife. It's amazing how baseball can bring people together.

Since it's Wednesday, here's a few baseball-related links from around the web...
