As far as Major League Baseball teams go, the Twins have one of the most rich and diverse groups of writers, bloggers and reporters in the country. I'm obviously biased on the subject, but outside observers have voiced the same opinion many times in the past. The breadth of coverage available to Twins fans is amazing, with dozens of talented writers pumping out content and offering different ways to view and analyze the game. This was made more clear than ever when the blogosphere came together on February 12 for Nick Punto Day (a word-of-mouth campaign aimed at getting every Twins writer to give their own take on one of the team's most controversial figures for one day), which illustrated the vast array of varying viewpoints available to fans hungering for independent analysis. The problem is that there are so many great places out there to find Twins-related content that it can be hard to keep up. So when me, John Bonnes, Parker Hageman and Seth Stohs came together to create the TwinsCentric brand last year, it was about synergy. Bringing together four of the most prominent and tenured Twins bloggers to collectively produce premium content seemed like a fitting first step. This spring, we teamed with Maple Street Press and recruited a stacked roster of talented bloggers, authors and writers from differing backgrounds to produce the 2010 Twins Annual (available for order now, by the way!). To help build on this burgeoning sense of community, we've also arranged a viewing party on Saturday, March 13 where folks can come together and watch some spring training baseball amongst like-minded fans while enjoying specialized deals on food and drinks (more details coming on this as the date approaches). It's all part of an overall mission to bring people together. Synergy. In light of this objective, landing here at StarTribune.com seems like another natural progression. We are honored to have our writing appear alongside La Velle, Joe, Howard and Sooze, and we think that you'll enjoy the refreshing, independent takes that will appear here on the TwinsCentric blog each weekday. From John's irreverant and conversational analysis to Parker's intelligent statistical breakdowns to Seth's exhaustive organizational recaps and knowledgeable prospect reports to my... well, whatever it is I do, you'll find plenty unique perspectives from a group of guys who have been doing this for many years. We hope you'll chime in with your own thoughts as well, even if it means informing us that we're more off base than Punto in Game 3 of the ALDS. (Still too soon, huh?) There was a time when the world of newspapers and the world of blogs were completely separate entities, held apart by a sometimes contentious rivalry. In some places, this is still the case (don't get Buzz Bissinger or Murray Chass started on the subject). But the fact is that these two forums are both highly valuable and complement one another extremely well with a dividing line that can sometimes be quite blurry, which is what makes this opportunity so exciting. It's synergy at its finest, folks. This is shaping up to be a hallmark season for Twins baseball, and we couldn't be more proud to be taking part in covering it here at StarTribune.com. We hope you'll stop by daily to get your fix, and follow the links we provide to other great Twins-related content around the web. Here are a few to get you started for today:
