I know there's been a lot of reaction to the Twins cutting ByungHo Park from camp and going to 13 pitchers. But here's my two cents, anyway.

I have stated this before: The best players don't make teams, the ones who are healthy, out of options or on the 40-man roster do.

That's what Park is dealing with right now as he takes his .353 average and six home runs down the street to the minor league complex. You can't do much more to make a team. Park, for now, if deprived of a second chance to prove he can hit major league pitching.

It shakes up the batting order, as Robbie Grossman will likely DH on Opening Day, with Miguel Sano and Joe Mauer appearing there as well. Chris Gimenez will be the back up first baseman.

It's also a head-scratcher because of how they are looking at their pitching staff. The Twins have two off days during the first 10 days of the season, which is enough time for a bullpen to recover and avoid needing a 13th arm. But the Twins are determined to have cover.

The Park move weakens the entire roster. If there was spring training WAR, Park would out preform several pitchers in camp. But don't get me started there. Alex Wimmers had a solid camp, posting a 2.00 ERA but is not going north. He's 28 years old. If he can't make this team, when can he make it?

What does Wimmers have in common with Park? They both are non-roster invites.

I decided to stay back in Fort Myers to cover the Carnage by the Coast.. Game updates will be few and far between. Also, Kennys Vargas had trouble running yesterday in a minor league game and didn't play today. So we'll be checking on the foot he fouled a ball off of a few days ago.

But, at least, here are the lineups. You might want to prepare for Buxton batting third sometimes against lefties.
