The Twins' Little Papi is back.

Kennys Vargas, the slugger who launched nine home runs in a half-season for the Twins in 2014, is at Target Field today and will be activated for the first game of a series with Oakland. Vargas, the 25-year-old Dominican who developed a close friendship with former Twin David Ortiz, was batting .235 with 14 home runs at Class AAA Rochester.

Trevor Plouffe's sore ribs have been diagnosed as something worse, a source close to the team said: A crack was found in one rib, and Plouffe is headed to the disabled list for the second time this season.

No word yet on a potential move to activate relief pitcher Trevor May, expected later Monday or Tuesday.
