Rod Carew won't be doing his usual autograph sessions at TwinsFest next weekend, but it's doubtful that Twins fans will care: After what he's been through, just having the Hall of Famer around will be thrill enough.

Carew will make four appearances at the Target Field event during TwinsFest, his first public appearances since suffering a major heart attack in California on Sept. 20. Carew is currently awaiting a heart transplant, but has been cleared to return to Minneapolis for the annual event.

Carew will help the Twins announce a 2016 initiative at a press conference on Saturday morning, and will take part in a question-and-answer session with fans Sunday at 1 p.m.

In addition, fans can bid at twinsbaseball.com/twinsfest on two private meet-and-greet sessions with the seven-time batting champion, one on Saturday at 11:15 a.m. and the other on Sunday at 12:15 p.m. Carew will sign autographs and pose for photos with the high bidders.
