Some thoughts after the Twins tied Boston 4-4 on Wednesday

YOUR TURN, PHIL: Twins manager Paul Molitor pointed out that opponents this spring have been more aggressive when facing Phil Hughes, which happens when you walk just 16 batters in a season. But the advantage can remain with Hughes, who now can take advantage of aggressive hitters by altering pitch selection and maybe pitching a little more off the plate.

TOO BAD FOR THIELBAR: Thielbar opened his career with 19 scoreless innings and was hard to hit two years ago. He came back down to earth last season and now can't even make the team out of camp. Given the lack of lefthanded relievers in the system, Thielbar can easily pitch his way back to the majors if he works on his control and sharpens his pitches. Other in-house options remain Aaron Thompson and Ryan O'Rourke. All could pitch in the majors this season.

Quick story about O'Rourke - he's a character. He was charting pitches on one of the back fields a couple weeks ago as Glen Perkins pitched. I walked over to check the radar gun. "What's Perk hitting on the gun," I asked. O'Rourke said: ``I'll tell you if you answer a question for me." I agree, then he says, ``How do you think you made me feel when YOU didn't vote for Pedro Martinez? I was in my room crying." Just my luck, a Red Sox fan as a youth. O'Rourke is from Worcester, Mass., and was about 11 when all that went down, so yeah, I believed him. He laughed and said he couldn't resist.

PINTO'S CHANCE: It seems as if the Twins are willing to take Josmil Pinto north with them despite his shortened spring training because of a quad strain and concussion when he was hit in the head by Adam Jones' follow-through. Pinto can play in each of the final three spring training games and prove that he can help off the bench. Molly want's as strong of a bench as he can have, and Pinto brings a power bat.

GIBSON: Kyle Gibson is scheduled to start on Saturday in the spring training finale. He plans on making that start despite battling the flu the past few days. He will throw a short bullpen on Thursday in advance of that start. The flu bug has been rather pesky in this camp this year, striking six players.
