Josmil Pinto's chances of making the team have taken a hit as he will be shut down for several days after suffering a concussion in a game against Baltimore on Saturday.

UPDATE: GM Terry Ryan is not ready to call it a concussion. The Twins will wait a few days to see how he responds first. Ryan did say that Pinto has concussion-like symptoms. A CT Scan was negative. Ryan did admit that if this was the regular season, Pinto would be placed on the 7-day concussion DL because they would not have the time to play with like they do now.

Twins manager Paul Molitor said Pinto will miss four to five days while he recovers.

``He's feeling O.K.," said Molitor, who spoke with Pinto this morning. ``Obviously, you move slow with those particular injuries. We will see how he progresses but I would say a minimum of four to five days."

Pinto was struck three times at the end of Adam Jones' follow through on Saturday. They occurred over Jones' first two plate appearances. The first two have been described as grazing blows, but the third was more direct.

Jones is know for having a long follow through, and Pinto is not the first to find out about it. Pinto also was catching Tommy Milone, who throws a change up, and Molitor pointed out that catchers sometimes scoot up a little to get to the pitch before it hits the ground.

Pinto experienced dizziness after being hit. On Sunday he told Molitor he felt O.K. this morning but, ``just not quite himself," the manager said.

``Sometimes you have to slow people down and that's what we will do. We're going to be sure to give him time he needs to get well."

Molitor would not say how it would affect Pinto's chances of making the team. Pinto the first week of games while recovering from a strained right quad. Now this.

``There are things you can't control," Molitor said. ``He's obviously come in and looked better when he's had a chance to catch. He has worked on everything from pitch-to-pitch as far as calling games, his mechanics, framing pitches and blocking pitches. There was a lot of improvement there.

The Twins take on the Marlins today as Phil Hughes - who pitched here last year - gets the ball. Casey Fien, Tim Stauffer, Stephen Pryor, Caleb Thielbar and Adrian Salcedo are the other pitchers on the trip

Also heard from Dan Rohlfing, who caught Tommy Milone and Glen Perkins yesterday, that both pitchers had good outings and were burned by just one pitch. We'll see how that is factored in for Milone when the club meets to discuss the rotation. Trevor May looked really good Saturday and could make things interesting in the race for the No. 5 starter's job.

Interested in seeing Marlins pitcher Jarrod Cosart. He can throw a 95 mph cuter and was eighth in ground ball percentage last season. He's been working on a change up, which could be a big pitch for him.
