Oswaldo Arcia, batting .155 against lefties, is starting today against White Sox lefthander Jose Quintana.

Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said Arcia must face some lefties if he's going to learn how to hit them. Notice that Gardy didn't start him against Chris Sale on Friday. Gardy said that would have been cruel to do.

Arcia was the hero on Saturday, hitting a two-run double in the eighth that allowed the Twins to re-take the lead and eventually win the game.

Gardenhire also feels that Eduardo Escobar tries to hard to play in front of his former White Sox teammates. Escobar is not in the lineup today, as Eduardo Nunez will start at short.

A couple minor league notes

Outfielder Nate Roberts has been released, so his comeback from microfracture knee surgery is on hold. Roberts, a fifth-round pick in 2010, played in just one game last season and was batting .281 in 18 games this season when the decision was made to part ways.

Lefthander Mason Melotakis, who has a 1.54 ERA in nine games since being promoted to Class AA New Britain, was removed from last night's game because of a stiff elbow. The Twins don't believe it's ligament-related and expect Melotakis to be back sooner than later. It's too bad, because Melotakis was throwing 94-97 mph fastballs and a sharp breaking ball.

Righthander Hudson Boyd, suspended at Class A Cedar Rapids for a violation of team rules, is expected to be back on the active roster today.
