Third baseman Miguel Sano on Wednesday left a message for fans as he prepared for surgery this afternoon in New York to replace a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow.

Sano is expected to miss the entire season but the surgery does little to alter his status as one of the top prospects in baseball. Sano will return to Fort Myers on Friday to begin rehabilitation.
