Citing "major league sources," Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports is reporting that former Twins pitcher Carl Pavano ruptured his spleen while shoveling snow at his home in Vermont and will be sidelined for six to eight weeks.
Sidelined from what we're not exactly sure as Pavano didn't have a contract for the 2013 season.
Pavano's agent wouldn't comment but a source said the injury occurred when Pavano slipped and fell.
Rosenthal reported that Colorado and the New York Mets had showed some interest in Pavano, who had a 2-5 record and 6.00 ERA in 11 starts for the Twins last season but didn't pitch after June 1 because of what was eventually diagnosed as a bone bruise in his upper arm.
In his three-plus seasons with the Twins, Pavano had a 33-33 record. You can read Rosenthal's report here.
