Phil Miller covered three seasons of Twins baseball, but that was at a different ballpark for a different newspaper. Now Miller returns to the baseball beat after joining the Star Tribune as the Gopher football writer in 2010, and he won't miss the dingy dome for a minute. In addition to the Twins and Gophers, Miller covered the Utah Jazz and the NBA for six years at The Salt Lake Tribune.
The last-place Twins can pull into a tie with Cleveland for fourth place in the AL Central on Monday night, as the teams meet at Target Field in the finale of this four-game series.
The Twins are 2-1 so far in the series and have won nine of their past 11 games against the Indians.
Twins starter Samuel Deduno is 1-0 with a 4.09 ERA in two starts against Cleveland this year, and Justin Masterson is 1-2 with a 6.27 ERA in three starts this year against Minnesota.
Update: Chris Parmelee was in the original starting lineup for the Twins, but he's been scratched because of right groin soreness.
