Morneau back in the lineup tonight as Twins face the Whie Sox

Justin Morneau arrived in the Windy City last night and should be in the lineup tonight. He missed three games to attend the birth of his son, Marty, his second child.

Chris Parmelee, who was called up to replace Morneau on the roster during his paternity leave, made one start and was a pinch hitter in another.

Morneau gets to step in against young White Sox lefthander Jose Quintana (4-1, 2.30).

The guess is that the Twins might be persuaded a little bit to keep the hot Ryan Doumit in the lineup. Doumit has three homers in his last two games. Doumit hit his 10th home run of the season last night and is batting .350 (35-for-100) with 12 runs, 11 doubles, four home runs and 16 rbi in his last 27 games.

BTW, the five double plays the Twins hit into last night gives them 99 for the season, tied for the most in baseball with Baltimore.

Will check back with lineups and updates!

UPDATES

Twins third baseman Trevor Plouffe is using stronger medication on his bruised right thumb, with the hope that it will help him get back on the field in a couple days.

If Plouffe, who injured the thumb during Friday's game against Kansas City, can't play by Friday, then the Twins could place him on the disabled list. The move could be backdated to that Friday game, so he could be eligible to come off the DL on Aug. 6.

Morneau is back, but woke up in the team hotel this morning with a sore neck. That's why he's DH-ing tonight and not at first base.
