Phil Miller covered three seasons of Twins baseball, but that was at a different ballpark for a different newspaper. Now Miller returns to the baseball beat after joining the Star Tribune as the Gopher football writer in 2010, and he won't miss the dingy dome for a minute. In addition to the Twins and Gophers, Miller covered the Utah Jazz and the NBA for six years at The Salt Lake Tribune.

The Twins remain close to finalizing a deal with free agent outfielder Josh Willingham, but according to a source familiar with the negotiations, the talks have not reached the point where there's a full agreement, pending a physical.

Also, nobody from the Twins or Michael Cuddyer's camp has officially said that the sides are moving in different directions. The sides have been suspiciously quiet, but few expect the Twins to end up with both Willingham and Cuddyer.

Stay tuned.
