Danny Valencia is still unavailable because of the flu.

Joe Mauer (pneumonia) and Justin Morneau (concussion symptoms, stomach flu) are not at the park.

Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said he wants Tsuyoshi Nishioka to work on his upper body strength during the offseason. Nishioka, who has been shut down because of an oblique strain, said he plans to begin offseason workouts as soon as he recovers from his injury.

Twins starters not named Scott Diamond and players recovering from injuries will not make the one-day trip to New York to play the make-up game against the Yankees., 

Nice moment before the game, as the Twins announced the creation of the John Gordon Award that will be given to the top radio affiliate each year. Gordon, who is retiring after the season.  was honored before t he game. Many of his friends and family were on the field before the game, and Gordo began choking up during the ceremony.
