Justin Morneau fouled a ball off his right foot Saturday night, and it's still sore, so he's not in the lineup today, as the Twins try to split a four-game series with the Yankees at Target Field.

Manager Ron Gardenhire was going to give Joe Mauer a day off today but needed him to play first base.

Michael Cuddyer, who has been out since Aug. 10 with a sore neck, is going through a pregame workout and looks like he'll be ready to return to the lineup Monday. He'd be available off the bench today.

Tsuyoshi Nishioka remains out with back stiffness.

Nick Blackburn is 0-4 with a 5.40 ERA in his past seven starts, but that includes his 6 2/3-inning, 0-earned run effort against Boston on Aug. 10, which earned him a no-decision.

Alex Rodriguez is back in the lineup for the Yankees, who counter with rookie righthander Ivan Nova, who is 8-0 with a 3.90 ERA in his past nine starts.
