Twins catcher Joe Mauer is 1-for-19 in his career against Rangers lefthander C.J. Wilson, so Mauer isn't starting tonight. Mauer also needs to rest his legs after playing several days in a row.

Denard Span had Monday off but is expected to be in center tonight for Class AAA Rochester as he continues his return from a concussion. UPDATE: Span didn't start tonight either, but Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said Span is scheduled to play on Wednesday. Span, according to Gardenhire, was delayed by travel on Monday and went through a hard workout on Tuesday.

First baseman Justin Morneau has been battling migraines lately and has been unable to work out.

``Has nothing to do with his concussion. Has nothing to do with his neck," Gardenhire said. ``Just came up with some migraine headaches and they gave him some medication and backed him off. He should be back to work tomorrow."

Righthander Kyle Gibson will miss his scheduled start on Wednesday for New Britain because of a sore flexor muscle near his elbow. He's expected to be ready for the start after that.

Something I didn't mention from yesterday's madness: Nick Blackburn gave up six earned runs on 11 hits over 2.2 innings.

He also started the 15-0 loss to the Dodgers on June 27.

He also started the 15-3 loss to the Rays on Apr. 23.

Will check back later with updates.
