The roof is partially closed at Miller Park, home of the Pork Parfait

It's not every day at the ballpark when someone recommends a dish called ``The Pork Parfait,'' and the home team leaves the retractable roof partially closed.

Welcome to Miller Park.

I skipped the Parfait, which, apparently, is pork over mashed potatoes drizzled with barbecue sauce. I had to ask about the partially-closed roof.

Apparently, last year Prince Fielder and Ryan Braun compared about the visibility on the field during day games when the roof was open, because often the pitcher was in the sun and batters were in the shadows.

So now the Brewers move the roof over the rightfield portion of the stadium until the pitcher and batter are both in the shade. I'm sure Jason Repko is licking his chops, knowing he'll get a good look at pitches today.

This is something I'm going to have to address in my Monday column: Joe Mauer is not in the lineup, leaving the Twins, on a four-game losing streak, with a lineup featuring Danny Valencia at cleanup followed by Luke Hughes, Repko batting sixth, Nishioka, Drew Butera and Carl Pavano.

That's a pathetic lineup for a contender. Mauer was supposed to come back to the big leagues ready to catch five days straight. Now he's taking his second day off in four games. From what I'm hearing, his teammates are not pleased. Unfortunately, they're not surprised, either.
