How good is Toronto's Jose Bautista?

Since Sept. 1, 2009, he leads the majors with 77 home runs. Albert Pujols has the next highest total, with 55.

Bautista continues to put on a show against the Twins. He homered off Joe Nathan on Friday and went opposite-field on Saturday with a two-run, 11th-inning shot off Jim Hoey.

"Ever since the end of '09, he's been The Machine," Twins left fielder Delmon Young said. "Last year, he hit 54 homers and also walked 100 times. This year, he's cut down on strikeouts, he's putting the ball in play more, hitting for average [.358], a lot of power, with a very good eye, good baserunning and good defense."

Bautista, who leads the majors with 13 homers, gets one more crack at the Twins this season and that comes today.

Update: Lefthander Jose Mijares has a sore left elbow and is likely heading to the disabled list.

Sounds like the Twins are contemplating another pitching move after the game, as well.

Manager Ron Gardenhire said he'd prefer to keep Brian Duensing in the rotation but said "nothing's out of the question" regarding a possible bullpen swap with Kevin Slowey.

Duensing's adaptability makes that a possibility.

"Absolutely, if it's something we have to do, we'd talk to him about it before anyone else," Gardenhire said. "If it's something that becomes absolutely necessary, yeah. But again, I want to re-iterate that I like him in the rotation. We like what he does. I like the way he handles himself. He's another lefty, which is a good thing."
