LAKELAND, FLA. -- La Velle is back in Fort Myers, rounding up the Twins news there, and I'm at Joker Marchant Stadium, where the Twins are playing the Tigers.

Happy St. Patrick's Day. The Tigers will be wearing green jerseys and hats.

First of all, Harmon Killebrew is in Twins camp and looks great, as La Velle notes on his blog.

Also, Joe Mauer will be catching Matt Capps in a minor-league game at the Twins complex, and Drew Butera will be catching Carl Pavano. The original plan had Pavano pitching in this game against the Tigers, but he's making a lot of road trips this spring, and the Twins don't need to give the Tigers another look at him.

Manager Ron Gardenhire said Mauer might get a couple at-bats on the minor-league side Friday, and if all goes well, he'll catch Saturday's major league game against the Rays.

Michael Cuddyer also is making progress after having a wart removed from his left foot. If all goes well, he'll play four or five innings in a minor-league game Friday, Gardenhire said. Gardenhire wasn't sure if Cuddyer is ready to play the field in that game.

"Moving in the outfield -- that's OK," Gardenhire said. "Running the bases is where he probably has the most trouble, cutting around the bases."
