I hope you all had a safe and fun Labor Day weekend. I'm sure that commenters sjost017 and srmollic especially enjoyed Saturday's game, when Jim Thome tied and passed Mark McGwire on the All-Time Home Runs list with taters no. 583 and 584. By going yard twice in the Twins' 12-4 win over the Texas Rangers, Jim Jam decided the fate of not one, but two dozen delicious, homemade muffins a piece of sjost017 and srmollic's choice.

So go ahead and email me to specify which kinds of muffins you two like best and where I should send them. Congratulations, and sorry it took me a few days to recognize your accomplishments. Speaking of impressive feats, Thome made another batch of tater tot hot dish Monday afternoon in the Twins' 5-4 win over the Kansas City Royals, nailing career longball no. 585. Next up on the all-time list: Frank Robinson at eighth.

A bus load of friends and I watched the Twins, who are now an incredible 81-57, beat the Royals yesterday afternoon from the Budweiser Roof Deck, which is more of a sweet place to party than a half-decent area to watch the game from. Left field is completely hidden underneath the deck and it's just far as heck away from the action in general. And hot dogs are $6 up there, even on Dollar Dog Day. Not impressed.

However, the jumbotron is larger than life, making it a piece of cake to see what's going on in the game since the view kinda sucks. I liked that it's never too far to walk to get a $7 beer and a $10 shot of whiskey with the mandatory ice cube inside of it. Also, the bathrooms are located right next to the bar, which is great. No waiting in line and no walking a couple of sections away to get to them after you've consumed more beverages than any human bladder could possibly hold.

All in all, I recommend checking out the Roof Deck seats at least once to experience it, and then probably never pay to sit (or more likely stand) up there ever again.

The Twins welcome the Royals back to Target Field for Game 2 of the series Tuesday night at 7:10pm with Francisco Liriano taking on righty Brian Bannister.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on the weekend Rangers series, this Royals series, and the crucial, upcoming six-game road trip to Cleveland and Chicago.
