Startribune.com sports coordinator Howard Sinker used to cover the Twins and now shares season tickets with friends in Section 219 of Target Field. He blogs about baseball from the perspective of a long-time fan who loves the game, doesn’t always believe the hype and likes hearing what others think.

'Shame on you, Twins fans'

A commenter who wrote in from Florida offered passionate praise for Gardy on Monday's post. Given that talkin' Gardy is among the hot-button issues on any Twins blog, I figured this was worth throwing out -- in edited form -- for your response.

Shame on you 'Twins Fans' from a Florida Twins Fan

"Let's see. You lose an All Star closer before the season begins. You lose extensive time due to injuries at [every] infield position. Your starting pitching has been inconsistent most of the year. Your outfield defense has been atrocious. You lead the league in hitting into DPs. Your lead off hitter is hitting less than .250 on the road, and let us not mention his baserunning and defense.

"Why in the heck are you in a position to be 6 games up with 41 go play come Thursday? It is really quite simple. You have the Manager Of The Year in your dugout moving the pieces around.

"This is not happening because we have the greatest farm system or made the best trades or have the most talent in the division. Well, you might have the most talent but you can never seem to get them all together.

"Bottom line it is happening because Gardy is doing a masterful job with the talent that shows up 'unwounded' on a daily basis. Give Gardy credit because you will be eating crow at the end of the year."

Have at it.
