The Twins were unable to make anything happen Wednesday night against John Danks, who was pretty sharp through eight innings, as the Twins dropped Game 2 by a score of 6-1 to knot up the American League Central once again. Danks, who said, "I hate pitching against this team, I'm not going to lie to you," may have changed his tune a bit after silencing the same Minnesota bats that belted five longballs the day before.

Glen Perkins, who hadn't started a big league game since August 2, 2009, gave up a two-run shot by Carlos Quentin in the second before the Sox made use of two Twins throwing errors. The lefty surrendered six runs on five hits in just 4.2 innings, hitting Quentin twice. Kicking his season off with an 0-1 record and 7.71 ERA is probably not quite how he hoped things would go down.

Of course, it just wouldn't feel right unless someone was injured. J.J. Hardy was replaced with a pinch hitter in the top of the seventh due to some pain in his left wrist, and Jose Mijares hurt himself... running? No word on Hardy's injury -- the same one that has landed him on the disabled list twice already this season -- but Mijares will make a trip to the DL and be replaced by Jeff MANship on the 25-man roster.

The Twins will look to take the series and regain first place in their division at 7:10pm tonight with Francisco Liriano on the hill to face Gavin Floyd. Liriano is 1-3 with a 5.82 ERA in eight career games against the Sox, including five starts, and 1-0 with a 3.29 ERA in two this season. Meanwhile, Floyd is 4-5 with a 4.04 ERA in ten career games against Minnesota, but is on a roll as of late: 6-2 with a 1.19 ERA in his last 12 outings. Jason Kubel has given the right-hander the most trouble out of this Twins lineup, hitting three bombs with six RBI in 28 lifetime at bats.

  • Was Perkins ready for the call-up?
  • Are you going to miss Mijares?
  • Will Frankie give the Twins a shot today?
  • How bad will it hurt if Hardy lands on the DL?

Also, happy birthday Lew Ford. As always, feel free to email me with love letters, hate mail, and general shenanigans. I love hearing from you!

P.S. Carl Pavano and his mustache, along with Danny Valencia, members of the Rolling Twins softball team, the Braun family, and ESPN 1500's Cory Roufs will be hanging out at the Mall of America's Best Buy Rotunda Friday afternoon from 11am - noon. They'll be signing autographs in an effort to spread the word about Michael Cuddyer's bid for the Pepsi Refresh Project. I will be there. With bells on.
