International bonus babies

MIGUEL ANGEL SANO

Position: Infielder

Bonus: $3.15 million

Age 16

Height, weight: 6-3, 195

Born: San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic

Scouting report: Tremendous body, which was a big reason his age was heavily scrutinized. Has never lifted weights but looks strong. Has terrific power potential from a swing that looks advanced for someone his age. He's expected to fill out so much that he'll probably wind up moving to third base or even a corner outfield spot. Twins hope he only moves to third.

MAX KEPLER

Position: Outfielder

Bonus: $775,000

Age: 17

Height, weight: 6-4, 205

Born: Berlin

Scouting report: Smooth swing. Runs easy. Some Twins officials believe Kepler is a good enough athlete to play all three outfield positions. Took batting practice recently with Twins minors leaguers Danny Valencia, Joe Benson and others and didn't look out of place.

JORGE POLANCO

Position: Shortstop

Bonus: $750,000

Age: 16

Height, weight: 5-11, 165

Born: San Pedro de Macoris, Domincan Republic

Scouting report: Has flown under the radar of Sano, but it says something that the Twins are willing to place him in the Gulf Coast League and not send him to their academy in the Dominican Republic. A true shortstop in terms of glove, arm and range. And Twins scouts are confident that he will be an above-average hitter.
