Game 4 recap: New York 7, Philadelphia 4

Last update: November 2, 2009 - 12:45 AM

MVP:Alex Rodriguez, New York

His two-out double drove in Johnny Damon, who reached base a batter before with a single.

TURNING POINT

Damon's single off Brad Lidge came with two out. He followed that by stealing second, and -- with no one covering third base, as a shift was on with Mark Teixeira at the plate -- took off for third successfully. Lidge then hit Teixeira before Rodriguez's double.

BY THE NUMBERS

3 Times Rodriguez was hit by a pitch in the past two games. After Joe Blanton hit him Sunday, the umpires issued warnings to both sides.

24 Years since a team last overcame a 3-1 deficit in the World Series, the 1985 Kansas City Royals over the St. Louis Cardinals.

3 Home runs for Chase Utley in this series off CC Sabathia, after he hit a solo shot Sunday to pull the Phillies within 4-3.
