The Twins are a season-high six games over .500 as they have won nine of their past 10 games and are 13-8 this month -- part of the reason has been Michael Cuddyer's hot hitting. He's batting .381 over his past 10 games with five homers and 16 RBI. ... The Twins are 7-5 against the Royals this season ... The Twins have begun scouting the Yankees, Red Sox and Angels in case they face them in the postseason.

ROYALS UPDATE

Kansas City is surging late in the season, with a 12-5 record this month. The Royals have played better despite losing shortstop Mike Aviles, outfielder Coco Crisp and outfielder Jose Guillen for the season because of injuries ... Mike Jacobs has singles in each of his past three at-bats against Scott Baker, but Baker has struck out John Buck in five of their past six meetings.
