TWINS UPDATE

The Twins are 9-6 against the White Sox this season but just 2-4 in Chicago. The Twins were headed to a three-game sweep over the Sox before Gordon Beckham and Paul Konerko hit back-to-back home runs off Joe Nathan with two outs in the ninth inning on Sept. 2. ... Blackburn is 2-7 with a 6.90 ERA since the All-Star break but held the White Sox to one run over seven innings in a 4-1 victory Aug. 31. ... Joe Mauer is a .325 career hitter at U.S. Cellular Field, and Jason Kubel is at .320.

WHITE SOX UPDATE

The White Sox will try to play spoilers after losing four of their past five to fall 6 1/2 games behind the Tigers. With Gavin Floyd out with left hip soreness, Chicago gave tonight's start to Hudson, a promising righthander from Old Dominion. Hudson made stops at Class A, Class AA and Class AAA this season, combining to go 14-5 with a 2.32 ERA, notching 166 strikeouts and 34 walks in 147 1/3 innings. ... Beckham is batting .441 (15-for-34) with three home runs and eight RBI against the Twins this season. Konerko has five home runs and 10 RBI against the Twins this year. ... The White Sox have won 22 of their past 37 home games after opening the year 18-20 at The Cell.
