When it comes to All-Star Games, Twins catcher Joe Mauer is batting .600.
Mauer's third All-Star selection in five full major league seasons will be made official today when the All-Star Game Selection Show (noon, TBS) reveals 32 of the 33 roster spots for both the American and National leagues.
In the final update of online voting last week, Mauer had a comfortable lead among AL catchers. This would be his second start in a row. Mauer's teammate Justin Morneau was sitting third among AL first basemen. If Morneau makes the team as a reserve -- he's hitting .309 with 19 home runs and 64 RBI -- it would be his third consecutive All-Star appearance.
Closer Joe Nathan also has All-Star numbers.
I made this championship belt for the push to the '09 Division Title. Gladden offered to buy it; I wanted a trade for one of his rings. He declined.
