TWINS UPDATE

General Manager Bill Smith said the team remains hopeful Justin Morneau can play tonight after missing Sunday's game because of what was called "general soreness." Morneau had played in every Twins game since June 28, 2007. Nick Punto (bruised ribs) did not undergo a magnetic resonance imaging exam Monday, suggesting he also could return soon. Denard Span (inner-ear infection) is eligible to return from the disabled list Thursday and began his rehab stint Monday for Class AAA Rochester, going 1-for-4 with a double and a walk. ... The Twins swept three games vs. the Brewers at the Metrodome June 22-24, outscoring Milwaukee 23-8. ... Pitching coach Rick Anderson raved about Liriano's bullpen session last weekend, saying the lefthander had started throwing two sliders but eliminated one to help keep his mechanics consistent.

BREWERS UPDATE

Team VP of Communications Tyler Barnes updated the flood repairs on Miller Park's service level via e-mail: "There will still be a good amount of work to do [Tuesday], and conditions for players will not be absolutely optimal in all areas, but it will be comfortable and operational. ... The best news is that repairs and ongoing work are invisible to the fans, and their experience has not been impacted in any way. ... Everything that happened as a result of the floods occurred underground, with no impact on the field or seating bowl." ... Bush, listed to pitch Thursday, has arm fatigue, and the Brewers were discussing alternatives such as reliever Seth McClung, who made 12 starts last year. ... Milwaukee is 4-8 in interleague play after getting swept by the Tigers last weekend. ... The 117 combined RBI for Prince Fielder (67) and Ryan Braun (50) are the most for any duo in baseball. Corey Hart has a 10-game hitting streak. The Brewers are 9-5 in Jeff Suppan's starts heading into tonight.
