Luke Bard is back with the Twins.

The righthander has been returned to the club from the Angels, who designated him for assignment last week when they needed a fresh arm. Bard gave up seven earned runs in 11.2 innings while with the Angels.

Bard, 27, was drafted by the Twins in 2012 but has pitched in only 132 minor league games due to injuries. He's pitched in 41 and 44 games his two previous seasons.

The Twins have assigned Bard to Class AAA Rochester.

The Twins also have promoted lefthander Stephen Gonsalves to Class AAA Rochester. Gonsalves, the No. 6 ranked prospect by the Star Tribune, was 3-0 with a 1.77 ERA through four starts at Class AA Chattanooga. Gonsalves takes the place of lefthander Adalberto Mejia, who has been placed on the DL with a blister issue. Mejia left his last start after one inning when the issue flared up.

Other than that, it's just another day at the ballpark. Uh, no it's not. The Twins need to break a seven-game losing streak. Fernando Rodney needs to find his change up. Logan Morrison needs to find his power stroke. Paul Molitor needs to leave his best fielders on the field when protecting a lead.

And righthander Phil Hughes needs to be the stopper tonight as the Twins open a three game series against the 5-20 Reds. Hughes something on the line here too. With Ervin Santana due back in the middle of the month, Hughes has to make it hard for the Twins to drop him from the rotation when Santana comes off the DL.
