Twins shortstop Jorge Polanco, who missed seven games while on the bereavement list following the death of his grandfather, has returned to the Twins and been activated for tonight's game with the Mariners.

The Twins optioned right-handed pitcher Chris Heston to Class AAA Rochester. He appeared on one game after being claimed off waivers from the Dodgers.

It's unclear if he will be in the lineup tonight.

The Twins also have signed reliever Tim Mehlville and assigned him to Class AAA Rochester. Mehlville, fourth round pick of the Royals in 2008, has nine innings of MLB experience with the Reds in 2016. Rochester likely needed an arm after recent injuries, promotions and makeup dates for rainouts.

He was 3-4 with a 3.45 ERA for Long Island of the Independent leagues when the Twins signed him.

Of course, today is all about the draft. The Twins will be on the clock after opening remarks by MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred. Their pick, for TV purposes, is scheduled for 6:07 p.m.

Been checking with people around the league, and the Twins have been good about not tipping their hand. I've always gotten the sense that the Twins wanted to save $$$$ on the first pick that they could use later in the draft. That would take Hunter Greene out of the running. And that's why I've thought Royce Lewis could be a sleeper pick here. We'll see.
