Now that the Twins have lost their 16th series of the season, they will try to avoid getting swept at home in a four-game series by the Yankees. New York, who last swept the Twins here in a four game series in 2013, have won the last eight meetings between the teams..

Despite hitting a home run and driving in three runs on Saturday, Byung Ho Park is getting Sunday off. Twins manager Paul Molitor doesn't like the matchup of Park vs. Yankees righthander Nathan Evoaldi. Evoaldi led all starters last season with an average fastball of 96.7 miles an hour. This year, he's averaging 96.9 miles an hour with the heater, but word is that he's been inconsistent with his other pitches.

Trevor Plouffe is playing at first base today for the first time this season, with Joe Mauer at designated hitter. That allows Eduardo Escobar to get on the field. Molitor wants to make sure Escobar doesn't languish on the bench.

The Twins have signed 26 of their 42 draft picks but there's no word yet on a deal for first round pick Alex Kirilloff, the outfielder from Plum High School, located just outside Pittsburgh, Plum lost in the state title game on Thursday, so the sides can now sit down and hammer out a deal. The Twins have signed nine of their first 12 picks, which includes their two bonus picks after the second round.
