TWINS UPDATE

The Twins, 4-19 on the road this season, begin a six-game road trip to Seattle and Oakland. They won the season series with Seattle 4-3 last year, and they have won five of their past seven games at Safeco Field. It will be a homecoming for RHP Trevor May, who is from Kelso, Wash., about two hours south of Seattle. … IF Eduardo Nunez has 12 multi-hit games and four with at least three hits. … OF Robbie Grossman has reached base in all six games he has played with the Twins. … 2B Brian Dozier's home run Wednesday ended an 0-for-15 skid. It came after he was given two days off as his batting average fell below .200. … Hughes gave up three runs over six innings Sunday in a loss to Toronto. But he was encouraged that he was able to throw 96 pitches after battling shoulder fatigue in recent starts.

MARINERS UPDATE

The Mariners are rolling, having won seven of their past nine games. They also took two of three from Oakland earlier this week. … 2B Robinson Cano is back to being a force, and OF Nelson Cruz remains one. But the production the Mariners are getting from OFs Seth Smith and Leonys Martin and 3B Kyle Seager can't be overlooked. … Seattle has six players with at least 12 walks. … "King Felix" Hernandez threw a five-hit shutout at Target Field when he faced the Twins last season. … Walker took the loss Monday in his most recent outing, but was charged with only one earned run over 7⅓ innings. He has faced the Twins once, July 31 at Target Field, when he pitched a one-hitter — a Miguel Sano home run — and struck out 11 in Seattle's 6-1 victory.
