BOTTOM LINE

The Twins likely will pick up Redmond's option, re-sign Punto and allow their other free agents to leave. After paying arbitration raises to Kubel and Guerrier and smaller raises to the throng of young players under control, they could bring back 26 players listed above for about $61 million.

Since their payroll was $71 million as recently as 2007, that leaves room to add a quality free agent. One possibility: White Sox shortstop Orlando Cabrera.
