After Clayton Richard's rough outing Tuesday, the White Sox replaced him in the rotation with Lance Broadway and tried making a plan to skip their fifth starter's spot as much as possible down the stretch.
They were willing to have Javier Vazquez, Mark Buehrle, Gavin Floyd and John Danks each make a start on three day's rest, and their hope was getting Vazquez, Buehrle and Floyd lined up to pitch against the Twins, Sept. 23-25 at the Metrodome.
Those plans might have been thrown for a loop by the weather.
• The Twins are scheduled to face Cy Young favorite Cliff Lee on Wednesday, and that won't be the only tough lefthanded matchup in Cleveland. On Monday, the Twins will face Scott Lewis, 24, who had a stellar major league debut last week, allowing three hits and no walks in eight shutout innings against Baltimore.
• While other non-contenders study young pitching prospects this week, the Tigers will send Dontrelle Willis and Freddy Garcia to the mound.
Willis (0-1, 10.32 ERA) returns after spending 2 1/2 months in the minors to regain his form. Garcia had shoulder surgery after going 1-5 with a 5.90 ERA for Philadelphia last season.

I made this championship belt for the push to the '09 Division Title. Gladden offered to buy it; I wanted a trade for one of his rings. He declined.
