LHP Francisco Liriano (4-3, 4.24 ERA) vs. RHP Miguel Batista (4-12, 6.55)
RHP Scott Baker (7-3, 3.74) vs. LHP Ryan Rowland-Smith (2-2, 3.84)
LHP Glen Perkins (11-3, 3.90) vs. LHP Ryan Feierabend (0-1, 7.88)
The Twins were fortunate to draw three series with the hapless Mariners -- all in August. They are 4-2 against Seattle, and the two losses involved bullpen meltdowns three weeks ago at Safeco Field. Jason Kubel is batting .684 (13-for-19) against the Mariners this year, with three doubles, three home runs and nine RBI. Francisco Liriano is 4-0 with a 1.14 ERA since returning from Class AAA Rochester and held the Mariners to two unearned runs in seven innings on Aug. 15.
At 48-82, the Mariners remain on pace to lose 102 games, despite a $118 million payroll. The player who has given the Twins the most fits is Raul Ibanez. In six games against Minnesota, he is batting .538 (14-for-26) with three doubles, two home runs and 12 RBI. Tonight's starter, Miguel Batista, moved back into the rotation because former Twin Carlos Silva (4-14, 6.36 ERA) is on the disabled list with right elbow biceps tendinitis.
