Timberwolves forward Kevin Love has dropped out of the celebrity softball game that is part of the All-Star weekend at Target Field.

Love's name was not included in the latest media release promoting the game, which will be played on July 13 and broadcast on ESPN the next night.

The game is part of a Sunday ticket package that also includes the Futures Game, involving minor league who are divided into teams representing the United States and the rest of the world.

Twins president Dave St. Peter said, in a Twitter message that "MLB and the Twins were notified this week that Love has a conflict."

Love recently announced that he would opt out of his contract with the Timberwolves after next season, giving him the opportunity to become a free agent. He has been the subject of much NBA trade speculation.

Minnesota athletes who are still scheduled to appear in the game include Zach Parise of the Wild, Adrian Peterson of the Vikings and Maya Moore of the Lynx. Former Twins Jack Morris and Jim Thome are also on the roster for the game.
