La Velle E. Neal III has covered baseball for the Star Tribune since 1998 (the post-Knoblauch era). Born and raised in Chicago, he grew up following the White Sox and hating the Cubs. He attended both the University of Illinois and Illinois-Chicago and began his baseball writing career at the Kansas City Star. He can be heard occasionally on KFAN radio, lending his great baseball mind to Paul Allen and other hosts. Mark Rosen borrows him occasionally for WCCO-TV.

Twins-Brewers: The interleague rivarly continues

Sorry for no post-game blog last night after the Twins' comeback win over the Yankees. The Twins now have 11 come from behind wins and are 7-0 in rubber games of series. There will be no rubber game here in Milwaukee because, sadly, it's a two-game series. I disagree with how the interleague rivalry series are being handled. The weekend series allowed fans to travel and bring a lot of spirit to these games.

One post game thought from yesterday would have been on Eduardo Nunez, who came through with a two-run double in the ninth inning on Sunday. Nunez was designated for assignment and then traded to the Twins.

Any satisfaction sticking it to the Yanks?

``No,'' he said. ``They made a decision. It was nothing about me or about them. Sometimes you start the career in one team and you finish in another.''

Mauer is a career .340 here. Let's see if he can get going this series.

Danny Santana ran the bases with his helmet on during early workouts to make sure his lacerated eye could handle it. He made it through just fine and is in the starting lineup.

Santana and Eduardo Escobar are the Twins most likely to steal tonight. Let's see if they take off on Garza, who doesn't hold runners on base well.

Mike Pelfrey is taking anti-inflammatory medication for his nagging ulnar nerve. He will wait two or three days, then test his elbow. He's still expected to see Dr. James Andrews for a second opinion.

Sam Fuld appears to have turned the corner in his recovery from his concussion. He went through a full workout on Monday and is on pace to take batting practice with the team on Wednesday when it returns from the current road trip.
