RANGERS UPDATE

Texas has won four of its past five games to reach .500 again, and it stands five games behind the first-place Athletics. … The Rangers are 12-12 on the road, and come in having won three of four games in Detroit over the weekend. … They are 5-2 against the AL Central. … They have been ravaged by injuries, and are without LHP Matt Harrison, LHP Martin Perez, 2B Jurickson Profar, C Geovany Soto, LHP Derek Holland, 3B Kevin Kouzmanoff and 1B Prince Fielder, among others. … They rank eighth in the AL in runs scored and 13th in runs allowed. … 2B Rougned Odor, at 20 the youngest player in the majors, tripled twice Saturday in Detroit. … Darvish ranks third in the AL in ERA (2.35) and seventh in strikeouts (71). … Former Twins RHP Scott Baker made two starts for the Rangers, but has been demoted to the bullpen.

TWINS UPDATE

The Twins are 12-11 at home and have won six of their past eight games at Target Field. … They split four games with the Rangers at home last year and are 11-6 all-time in Target Field against Texas. Since Ron Gardenhire became manager in 2002, they are 35-19 at home against the Rangers. … They are 2-4 against the AL West. … They rank seventh in runs scored, 11th in runs allowed. … Hughes is 5-0 in his past six starts, has given up one run in his last 20 innings and owns a 1.60 ERA since April 20. … 1B Joe Mauer is 7-for-12 against Texas closer Joakim Soria, but OF Jason Kubel is 0-for-11. … The only Twins player with a home run against Darvish? Chris Herrmann, who was sent back to Class AAA Rochester after Sunday’s game.
