  • Updated: April 17, 2014 - 8:48 AM

Twins first baseman Joe Mauer has been named "ambassador" for the 2014 baseball All-Star Game, which will be played at Target Field on July 15.

The honor typically goes to a high-profile player on the host team. David Wright, Torii Hunter and Derek Jeter are among those who have been named in the past.

Former Twins Bert Blyleven, Tony Oliva, Rod Carew and Paul Molitor will also serve as spokespeople for the All-Star Fan Fest, which will run from July 11 to July 15 at the Minneapolis Convention Center.
