It’s down to the final 11 games of the regular season, and the Twins are matched up with teams fighting for the postseason in Oakland, Detroit and Cleveland. … The Twins dropped two of three to the Athletics at Target Field last week. They lost two of three to Oakland last season when they visited, but are 6-5 at Oakland over the past three seasons. … De Vries gets a chance to show what he can do as he replaces the struggling Liam Hendriks. … Correia will make his fifth attempt to win his 10th game of the season. If he does, it will be the fifth consecutive season he’s won 10 or more games.

Oakland is threatening to run away with the AL West, having won six of their previous seven games entering Wednesday to move to a season-high 27 games over .500. … Catcher John Jaso won’t play again this season after suffering a concussion in July, but he still took batting practice Tuesday to give him some peace of mind. … Colon is 9-8 with a 4.14 ERA in 23 appearances (22 starts) against the Twins. But this will be his first start against them since May 21, 2009, when he gave up home runs to Michael Cuddyer and Joe Crede as the Twins routed the White Sox 20-1.
