FINALLY, SOME CALLUPS: The Twins called up infielder Eduardo Escobar, catcher Eric Fryer, first baseman-outfielder Chris Parmelee, lefthander Scott Diamond and righthanders Michael Tonkin, Cole De Vries and Shairon Martis. They finally have extra bench players and a couple bullpen arms. They have starters in Diamond and De Vries and will consider switching to a six-man rotation the rest of the season. They definitely want to get a look at Diamond, who has his confidence back. Hopefully Escobar gets steady playing time because he was swinging the bat well at Rochester. Samuel Deduno and Wilkin Ramirez were moved to the 60-day disabled list to make room on the 40-man roster.

MISSED CATCH: After the Blue Jays took a 1-0 lead in the eighth, Jose Reyes scored on a bloop single to short right-center field. The infield was playing in, and Twins manager Ron Gardenhrie said center fielder Clete Thomas should have remembered that and came in harder on the ball to make the catch. The ball fell in, and Reyes scored from third Toronto's second run.

VAVRA: The third base co ach lost the ball in the sixth inning and decided to hold up Perdo Florimon at third. Florimon would have scored, so the fans weren't happy. A third base coach is like a reliever - no one wants to talk to him unless he screws up. Vavra's line of sight was blocked by shortstop Jose Reyes when he dived for Alex Presley's single to left. ``He's pretty upset," Gardenhire said of Vavra. ``He was bummed about it in the dugout. If you haven't been out there, you would never understand it, but it is fast-paced out there."
