Twins update: They are 14-9 all-time against the Astros, and 7-4 in Houston, where they have never lost a series. But their last visit was in 2006, when they took two out of three in their only prior visit to Minute Maid Park. ... They swept three games when the teams met in Target Field in August, outscoring Houston 13-9. ... They are 15-7 against the AL West, and 6-4 on the road. ... They are 31-40 on the road overall but have won nine of their last 15 games away from home. ... They haven’t announced Tuesday’s starter, in order to see if Rochester makes the International League playoffs. If the Class AAA team is still playing, LHP Pedro Hernandez (3-1, 5.54) would get the start. ... Ron Gardenhire needs nine more victories to reach 1,000 for his major league managing career.

Astros update: They are 22-47 at home, worst in the major leagues, and ended a five-game losing streak on Sunday. They have lost nine of their past 13 games and are on pace to finish with 54 victories. ... In their first year in the American League, they opened the season with a payroll of only $26 million. After several deadline trades, they have only one player on the roster — LHP Eric Bedard, at $1.4 million — who earns more than $1 million. ... LF Chris Carter’s 26 home runs are the most in a season by an Astro since Carlos Lee in 2009. ... With 15 rookies on the current roster, they are the youngest team in the majors, with an average age of 25.8. ... They have allowed more runs than any team in the majors.
