Chart: Five Twins rookie leaguers worth watching

  • Updated: June 22, 2013 - 12:00 AM

Now that the draft is over, short-season rookie leagues have begun their seasons. The Twins have rookie teams in the Gulf Coast League as well as the Appalachian League. Here are five players — other than first-round pick Kohl Stewart — who are worth following.

Felix Jorge, RHP, Elizabethton: Jorge’s fastball tops out at 95 miles per hour but he usually settles in at 92-93. The Twins believe has a good feel for pitching, although his slider and changeup are still developing.

Yorman Landa, RHP, Elizabethton: Throws 93-95 mph consistently and has topped out higher. Also has a hard-breaking curveball. He’s a thrower more than a pitcher at this stage of his career.

Randy Rosario, LHP, Elizabethton: Has started and relieved, but Twins feel he can be part of a rotation. Fastball at 92-93, tops out around 95. Struck out 42 in 38⅓ innings last season for the GCL Twins. Will start season in Elizabethton’s rotation.

Amaurys Minier, 3B, GCL Twins: The Twins signed Minier last year to a $1.4 million deal and he will bypass the Dominican Summer League to begin his pro career in the states at age 17. Good pop for someone his age. Still learning third base after being signed as a shortstop.

Stuart Turner, C, Elizabethton: As of now, the highest draft pick at E-Town is Turner, who was considered one of the best catch-and-throw players available in the draft. The Twins believe he can be a decent hitter.
