TWINS UPDATE

Ryan Doumit could get into a groove this series with Harang on the mound. Doumit is a career .345 hitter against the veteran righthander with two doubles and three home runs. … Josh Willingham is batting .308 with one homer against Harang. Willingham entered Thursday with nine home runs, which is a good pace. Chris Colabello gets another opportunity with Trevor Plouffe back on the DL, but it looks like he will mostly be a pinch hitter with a chance to start a game or two. … Pedro Florimon is batting .287 with both his home runs as a lefthanded hitter.

MARINERS UPDATE

The Mariners are 13-5 against the Twins over the past two seasons and won eight of 10 games last season. But before winning Thursday at San Diego, they had lost seven road games in a row, four in walk-off fashion. "We've had some tough losses these first couple of months," Seattle manager Eric Wedge said. "I mean, some tough ones. The worm will turn. It will come back around. We have to keep fighting." … Seattle has the second-worst offense in the American League, leaving the pitching staff little room for error. … The Twins were interested in Iwakuma as a free agent before the 2012 season but he landed with the Mariners and has become a vital member of the rotation.
